Mental performance coach
for youth baseball and softball in Salinas.

Salinas athletes grind: early practices, long seasons, a lot of games. I work with them on the part that decides the close ones: the response to a mistake, the nerves before the first pitch, and the confidence that has to last.

What we work on

The part nobody trains.

  • A reset for the moment after a mistake: the error, the strikeout, the walk
  • A pre-game and pre-pitch routine that fits your athlete, in their own words
  • Nerves before big games, tryouts and showcases
  • Self-talk when it's going badly, and confidence that survives a slump
  • Separate work for hitters and pitchers

How it works in Salinas

Salinas is about 30 minutes from my home base in Hollister. Private sessions can be in person or on video. Team sessions happen at your practice.

Every athlete I work with gets the Mirror Mindset app while we train, so the reps happen on the days I don't see them. About a minute a day.

Who you'd be working with

Scott Mead.

Sixteen years as a police officer, fourteen years coaching youth ball, and a dad with kids in travel sports right now. I spent a career being trained for the ten seconds after something goes wrong, then watched twelve-year-olds get zero reps at the same thing.

This is mental performance training: practice for the part of the game between pitches, done on their feet, not a talk about feelings.

Also: hitting and defense lessons near Salinas

Swing work and glove work, one-on-one, with the mental side coached inside the same hour. $80 an hour, or $120 for two athletes. In person in Hollister and the surrounding area.

Questions

What parents ask.

Do you come to Salinas?

Yes. Team sessions happen at your practice, and private sessions can meet in person or on video.

Is this for baseball or softball?

Both. Everything is built for the diamond, with separate work for hitters and pitchers, and it works for other sports too.

How long before we see a difference?

One session teaches the tools; four weeks builds them into a habit. I'll tell you straight what I see after the first one, and there are no promises about stats.

Also working with athletes in Hollister, Gilroy, Morgan Hill, San Jose, and anywhere on video.
