Mental performance coach
for youth baseball and softball in San Jose.

San Jose is travel ball country: showcases, tournaments, and a lot of eyes on every at-bat. I work with Bay Area athletes and teams on the part of the game that holds up under all of it.

What we work on

The part nobody trains.

  • A reset for the moment after a mistake: the error, the strikeout, the walk
  • A pre-game and pre-pitch routine that fits your athlete, in their own words
  • Nerves before big games, tryouts and showcases
  • Self-talk when it's going badly, and confidence that survives a slump
  • Separate work for hitters and pitchers

How it works in San Jose

San Jose is about an hour from my home base, so most private sessions here happen on video, and team sessions come to your practice. I'm the official mental performance partner of Firecrackers Leles Bay Area.

Every athlete I work with gets the Mirror Mindset app while we train, so the reps happen on the days I don't see them. About a minute a day.

Who you'd be working with

Scott Mead.

Sixteen years as a police officer, fourteen years coaching youth ball, and a dad with kids in travel sports right now. I spent a career being trained for the ten seconds after something goes wrong, then watched twelve-year-olds get zero reps at the same thing.

This is mental performance training: practice for the part of the game between pitches, done on their feet, not a talk about feelings.

Questions

What parents ask.

Do you come to San Jose?

For team sessions, yes: I come to your practice. Private sessions for San Jose athletes are usually on video, which works just as well for this kind of work.

Do you work with club organizations?

Yes. Whole-club programs cover every athlete, parent and coach in the org, with participation you can see and journals that stay private to the athlete. See the teams page.

Do you offer hitting lessons in San Jose?

Hitting and defense lessons are in person in Hollister and nearby. For San Jose athletes, the mental side works best as sessions on video plus the app.

Also working with athletes in Hollister, Gilroy, Morgan Hill, Salinas, and anywhere on video.
