One mistake, and they stop
asking for the ball.

Soccer punishes a mistake by making the player invisible — they simply stop being an option. Nobody benches them and nobody says a word, so the problem never gets named. It just quietly costs them the second half.

The moments that actually decide it

Moment 1

The missed penalty

The walk back to the halfway line takes about a year, and everybody watches all of it.

Moment 2

A giveaway that becomes a goal

Forty minutes of hiding follow — playing safe, playing backwards, playing small.

Moment 3

Getting subbed off early

She's on the touchline deciding what it means about her before the coach has said anything.

Moment 4

Playing not to lose it

The moment the goal becomes keeping the ball rather than doing something with it.

What the training is

About sixty seconds a day. A quick check-in, one prompt, and short programs they work through — building a reset they can run on the field, a pre-game routine that fits them, and self-talk that holds up when it's going badly.

Everything reads in soccer language, so nothing sounds like it was written for another sport.

Their journal stays private. Not to coaches, not to parents, not to us. Adults see that the work is happening, never what was written. That's what makes athletes actually use it.
