BEFORE YOU START

A little clarity.

Pick what is true for you, not what sounds best. There are no wrong answers.

Is this a personality test?

No. It’s a coaching snapshot of how you compete and learn. It is not a diagnosis or a fixed label.

Who is it for?

Young athletes 8 and up, in any sport. Younger players can have a parent read along; the answers should be the athlete’s own.

Can I do it without a parent?

Yes, if you’re 13 or older. Take it on your own, and if you unlock the full profile, use your own email at checkout: the link comes to you. Under 13, a parent does the checkout and gets the link.

What is free, and what costs $8.99?

Complete the 38 questions and see your #1 strength for free. The optional full profile adds your other top strengths, learning preferences, coaching card, parent guidance, and share card for a one-time $8.99 payment.

Is this the same as the Mirror Score?

No. The Mirror Profile explores how you compete and learn. The Mirror Score helps identify mental skills to train next.

The research behind it
  • "Which sounds more like you?" Picking between two good statements is harder to game than rating yourself, so answers come out more honest (forced-choice format; Cao & Drasgow, 2019 meta-analysis).
  • Each strength shows up 5 times, against 5 different strengths, so one rushed tap doesn't decide it.
  • How you like to learn is a preference, not a "learning style." Studies haven't shown that teaching to a style helps (Pashler et al., 2008), so we use it for how to talk to you, not to box you in.
  • Coach me like this: athletes who get a say in when they get feedback tend to learn skills better (self-controlled feedback research; Chiviacowsky & Wulf).
  • For parents: young athletes say they want parents to talk about effort and attitude and leave technique to the coach (Knight & Holt).
  • What isn't proven yet: these exact 12 strengths and questions haven't been tested in a study. It's a coaching snapshot, not a personality test.
